How to prepare wiring for the Easiest xBlue X16 installation

| June 9, 2011 | 1 Comment

The best way to prepare wiring for easy self installation of the Xblue X16 small office phone system is to run a standard telephony wire from each extension location to the future location of the phone system itself (control box, which is best if located next to the incoming lines drop from your phone service provider) and terminate it as such. On the phone side, a standard phone jack in the wall,  and on the control box side an RJ11 plug ‘crimped’ on each wire (the system use ONLY the two middle wires). Make sure to mark each wire with its location in the office (extension/room number etc..). Ask your phone provider to terminate each of the incoming lines into a standard surface mount  ‘on the wall’ RJ11 connection box and have them write the phone number of each line on that box. When the time will come to install the system, all you’ll need to do is to connect each extension (phone) to the phone jack in the wall. Connect each cable (with the RJ11 termination) to the control box. And to connect the incoming phone lines from your telephone provider to the control box as well. That’s all there is to it. If you select the Pre-programming option when placing the order, the system can be up and running in minutes. It actually will take much longer to take everything out the boxes than hooking it up.
